Bali has been called the island of a thousand temples.’ This program visits some of Bali’s most sacred and picturesque temples.
A half-day tour with a visit first at the Royal Temple of Taman Ayun at Mengwi.
Built in 17th century, this impressive and spacious temple is surrounded by a wide moat, creating the sensation of standing in the middle of a lake. The temple it self has three ascending courtyards, each representing an increasing level of perfection in the Bali Hindu cosmos.
Later, a visit to Alas Kedaton Holy Monkey Forest, where hundreds of “tame” and very mischievous monkeys live in the forest surrounding the temple.
The final stop of the day will be at the dramatic Tanah Lot sea temple. This is one of the splendid temples in Bali. Perching atop an enormous rock, it is completely surrounded by the waters of the Indian Ocean during high tide. Please enjoy to watch the sunset over this temple.

Batubulan (to witness the performance of Barong and Kris dance, symbolizing the eternal fight of good and evil), Celuk (the village of silver and goldsmiths famous for its intricate pattern made by old age traditional techniques), Mas (the centre of fine woodcarvings. Techniques are learned inside the family, passed from father to sons), Ubud (the colony of painters of different styles, whose themes taken from legends, mythologies and scenes of daily life), Tegalalang (the dramatic scenery of terraced rice fields), Sebatu (the holy spring temple of Gunung Kawi, set in lush verdant valley).
The highlight of this tour is Kintamani, a mountain village at 1400 meters above sea level overlooking the breathtaking view of the still active Mount Batur and its lake.

Countryside of Bali

In this tour we will take you to Gianyar and Bangli region, famous for its peaceful villages set in fascinating nature. A beautiful waterfall, terraced rice fields, traditional houses and ancient temples are features of this rewarding trip.

Tegenungan (waterfalls set in lush country side), Pura Kehen (the state temple of Bangli Kingdom dated from the XI century, dedicated to the God of fire - Kehen = Kuren = Stove), Panglipuran (a former resting place of Balinese Kings, this peaceful village has traditional Balinese houses and temples. You can take a walk to explore this beautiful village), Pura Bukit Jati (with superb view of the surrounding villages) and Pura Gunung Lebah (situated on the confluence of two rivers, a sacred place for the Balinese, Pura Gunung Lebah was the place of meditation and spiritual retreat dated from the XI century).

Eastern Bali

A fascinating tour to the eastern part of the Bali, visit the ancient Court House of Justice at Klungkung. Constructed in the late 18th century, the walls and ceilings are covered with paintings depicting episodes and scenes of the horrors awaiting those who do evil while on earth. Nearby, the Bale Kambang (Floating Pavilion) and a museum complex open to the public.

Taman Ujung
A water pleasure-palace complex originally built by the last King of Karangasem in 1919. The complex is a combination of Balinese and European architectural styles with 3 large ponds inside the central area. In the middle of the main pond, there is a large “floating” building connected by 2 bridge walkways. Located at highest point of Taman Ujung is a great statue of “warak” (rhinoceros). Beneath the “warak” there is another massive statue of a bull. From this high vantage point, enjoy a vista including marvelous view of the sea, hills with lush and green forest, the beauty of Mount Agung and green terraced rice fields.

Tenganan
An original Balinese ‘aga’ village and home to a distinctive ancient culture where strict mores and cultural taboos are still rigidly enforced. Distinctly different from other villages in Bali with its broad avenues and its rare geringsing weaving methods, the gates of Tenganan are locked to the outside world each night.

Bat Cave (Goa Lawa)
If time permits Believed to have a subterranean connection to sacred Mt. Agung, the roof of this temple, set at the entrance to a sacred cave, is blanketed by thousands of bats. An awesome sight, especially if the resident pythons have crawled out on a ledge to “eye” the tourists and worshippers.
